How check-ins work

Check in on your schedule so beneficiaries do not get access while you are fine. Release waits for missed check-ins and a waiting period.

  1. 1

    Set your cadence

Choose a custom check-in interval. Many people keep the default of every 30 days. Signing in and unlocking your vault counts as a check-in. You can also check in from the dashboard or an email link.

  2. 2

Missed check-ins start the waiting period

If you miss a check-in, the waiting period begins with overdue notices (14 days on Free; 7 to 14 days on Pro; 1 to 14 days on Shield). Check in during the waiting period and pending release stops. Every plan also sends three warnings by default at 7, 3, and 1 days before your deadline and before the waiting period ends. Pro and Shield can customize those timings.

  3. 3

After the waiting period, claim can begin

When the waiting period ends without a check-in, beneficiaries can receive a claim link for only what you designated.

  4. 4

    Travel and short absences

A short trip alone does not unlock your vault. Use the waiting period as a safety buffer, or check in before you go if you expect to be offline.
